Pension & Benefits Department

As part of the Finance Department in the City, the Pension & Benefits Office provides administration and guidance for employees and retirees who are covered by City benefit plans. Retirement plans include a 401(a) Money Purchase Plan, the Waterbury Retirement System which is a defined benefit plan, a 403(b) plan for Department of Education employees and a 457(b) Deferred Compensation Plan. Welfare benefits include medical, health & wellness benefits, dental, pharmacy, life insurance, AD&D, a section 125 flexible spending account, dependent care account (daycare), as well as a comprehensive employee assistance program. There are also voluntary supplemental benefits available. We currently cover over 11,000 active employees, family members and retirees under the city programs.

The City of Waterbury has brought back our Wellness Program and it's better than ever. Now offering our employees and

their spouses (covered through Cigna) an easy way to track and set their goals for better living!

This is all done right through Cigna's website. The program allows you to log in, set your goals, and once they're met; you

can select your incentive!
