Civil Service Commission

Charter, §6B-4. In accordance with the provisions of §6B-4 of the Charter of the City, there shall be a Civil Service Commission. The Civil Service Commission shall consist of five (5) electors, no more than two (2) of whom shall be members of the same political party and no person shall have served as a public official in the past three (3) years. The incumbent members of said Commission shall remain in office to the completion of their respective terms or until their successors are appointed and qualified. The Mayor shall appoint members to a staggered term of five (5) years. Any vacancy on said Commission shall be filled by the Mayor, subject to the confirmation by a two-thirds vote of the Board of
Aldermen, for the unexpired portion of the term.

Civil Service Commission meetings are held on the First and Third Tuesday of the month at 6:00 p.m. in the Civil Service Conference Room.
