City of Waterbury Provides Morning Update on Water Service, Boil Water Advisory, and Water Distribution
Water Service Status
Water service remains restored citywide. Waterbury Water Department crews believe all known system-related service issues were resolved overnight. Yesterday, residents in the Austin Road area reported a temporary loss of water service. That issue has been resolved as of this morning, and all residents in that area should now have water.
Mark Lane Update
An additional concern was reported at Mark Lane. Following investigation, the issue was determined to be an internal plumbing matter within the affected buildings and not related to the city’s water system. Waterbury Water crews are working directly with the property management company to assist with restoring water flow within those condominiums.
Reporting Ongoing Water Issues
If any residents are still without water or experiencing service issues, they are asked to report their address by calling the Water Department at (203) 574-8251 so that crews can be dispatched as quickly as possible.
System Conditions and Water Pressure
Throughout the day, water storage tanks across the city will continue to refill. As tank levels increase, residents should continue to see improvements in water pressure, with the goal of complete and stable pressure citywide as the system continues to normalize.
Boil Water Advisory and Water Quality Testing
The City of Waterbury remains under a boil water advisory. Water samples have been collected and sent to a State-certified laboratory for testing. The boil water advisory will remain in effect until results confirm the water is free of bacteria and safe for consumption. The city expects to receive test results late this afternoon and will release them as soon as received.
Schools Update
Waterbury Public Schools are open today. All heating issues were resolved overnight. As a precaution, schools will provide bottled water to students while the Boil Water Advisory remains in effect. Food Services, in consultation with the Waterbury Health Department, have ensured meals meet all guidelines established by the FDA and the State Health Department under the boil water advisory.
Drinking Water Distribution
Bottled water distribution will continue today at Municipal Stadium, 1200 Watertown Avenue, beginning at 9:00 a.m. and continuing until supplies are depleted.
Home deliveries will also continue throughout the day for elderly, infirm, or housebound residents. Deliveries are coordinated by city staff with support from United Way volunteers and nonprofit partners.
The City of Waterbury will continue to monitor system conditions closely and provide additional updates as information becomes available.
