City of Waterbury Announces End of
Boil Water Advisory
(WATERBURY) The City of Waterbury is announcing that the boil
water advisory issued on September 24th has been lifted, effective immediately.
At 3:00 p.m. today, the City was informed
that all 12 distribution samples collected from the water system yesterday
tested negative for the presence of Total Coliform. Test results will be made
available for residents to review on the City of Waterbury website at www.waterburyct.org.
The advisory was issued as a precautionary
measure following a water main break on Huntingdon Avenue. Residents who
experienced low pressure or a temporary loss of water service on Wednesday,
September 24, or Monday, September 29, were directly affected.
We appreciate the patience and cooperation
of our residents, businesses, and institutions during this advisory, said
Mayor Paul Pernerewski. Our Water Department crews worked around the clock to
restore service and ensure the safety of our water system.
Crews continue to work on the Huntingdon
Avenue main repair, which is expected to take several more days. There is
currently no water loss in Waterbury or Watertown, and the city is operating
under normal conditions thanks to a bypass line installed by the Water
Department.
Residents no longer need to boil water before
use. The city encourages residents to flush household plumbing by running cold
water taps for a few minutes and to discard any ice made during the advisory
period.
