Regional Hazard Mitigation Plan Update – Presentation to City Plan Commission

The Waterbury City Plan Commission will host a presentation by the Naugatuck Valley Council of Governments (NVCOG) regarding updates to the Regional Hazard Mitigation Plan.  The presentation is scheduled for Wednesday, March 10, 2021 at 5:30 p.m.  Due to COVID pandemic restrictions, the event will be held remote via Zoom teleconferencing.  Instructions for attending this virtual meeting can be obtained by clicking on the below the calendar link under Upcoming Meetings.

The Regional Hazard Mitigation Plan is a multi-jurisdictional plan for all 19 NVCOG member communities.  The plan seeks to identify natural hazards and risks, existing capabilities, and activities that can be undertaken by a community to prevent loss of life and reduce property damages associated with natural hazards.  Such plans are required by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) in order for communities to qualify for certain federal mitigation funding.  Further information about the plan can be obtained by visiting the NVCOG website at https://nvcogct.gov/.
