Community Conversation on Current Events, Relationships, and Solidarity

In response to the painful events that have recently transpired in Minnesota, Mayor Neil M. O’Leary, Waterbury Police Chief Fernando Spagnolo, Pastor Kristopher Reese (Grace Baptist Church), Dr. James Gatling (Chief Executive Officer, New Opportunities Inc.), Ginnie-Rae Clay (President, Greater Waterbury Branch of the NAACP), Pastor Kelsey Hopson (Mt. Olive AME Zion Church), Reggie Beamon (Executive Director, Waterbury OIC, Inc.; Fmr. State Representative), Warren Leach (Director, The Ungroup Society) and other community stakeholders (to be announced) will be hosting a Community Conversation on Current Events, Relationships, and Solidarity.

What: A Community Conversation on Current Events, Relationships, and Solidarity
When: Monday, June 1st; 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM
Why: To ensure solid two-way communication between our city government and the most valuable part of our city – our residents.

In an effort to adhere to social distancing guidelines, and to ensure that residents have the ability to safely view, listen, and participate in Monday’s community conversation, a number of measures have been put in place:

  1. Monday’s event will be broadcasted live on the City of Waterbury’s Government Access Channel (Comcast Channel 96; Frontier Channel 6096), as well as on YouTube. To access the YouTube feed visit: www.waterburyct.org/communityconversation
    *Link will not be live until Monday, June 1st
  2. Individuals interested in asking a question or providing comment during the Community Conversation, are invited to call (203) 597-3477. There will be a time limit of 5 minutes per speaker.

a. Beginning at 12:00 PM, residents are invited to call and register to ask a question or provide comment. City staff will compile a chronological list of callers.

b. Residents who have called and registered to ask a question or provide comment will be asked for their name and phone number.

c. City staff will call back residents when it is their turn to ask a question or provide comment.
