Re:         East Main Street Streetscape Design Workshop December 20th

For Immediate Release

A design workshop for the East Main Street Streetscape will be held on Thursday, December 20th at 6:30 p.m. in the First Floor Multipurpose Room at the UCONN Waterbury Campus.  Workshop attendees will have the opportunity to learn more about this important project and provide input and feedback on the overall “look and feel” of East Main Street.

The Streetscape Project is an ambitious effort by the City and the Waterbury Development Corporation (WDC) to further reinvigorate the City’s Downtown and create a vibrant public realm from Exchange Place to North Elm Street.  The project will include roadway reconstruction and new sidewalks, crosswalks, streetlights, trees, bus shelters, and street furniture. Utility and infrastructure work will include improvements to the water, sewer and stormwater utilities, and the replacement of the traffic signal at Phoenix Ave.

Elected officials, business owners, and members of the public are encouraged to attend the event to provide their thoughts, feedback, and suggestions on the public realm improvements. In the event of a snowstorm, the workshop will be rescheduled for January 3, 2019 and the notice will be posted to the City of Waterbury’s website and WDC’s website.
