TITLE: SEASONAL RIVER BRIGADE APPRENTICE
SALARY: 10.50 per hour
In order to draw attention to the Naugatuck River and its vital importance to the Greater Waterbury Community, Mayor O’Leary has initiated a campaign to have local youth learn about this important environmental asset while also aiding in its rejuvenation. The City of Waterbury plans to hire 10 local high school students that will work this summer removing litter and debris from the Naugatuck River. Through field trips and education sessions, program participants will also learn about the vital ecosystem that the river supports and how simple things such as litter and careless fishing have such a hugely negative impact on the river.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Students ages 16-18, that are currently in high school or recently graduated

A desire to pursue a career in environmental science, biology, or related field

Any student applying is required to provide a letter of recommendation from a teacher or guidance counselor.
OTHER INFORMATION:

The program starts on June 25th, 2018 and will continue for 6 weeks.

Students will work approximately 30 hours per week.
