8/30/2016 - Silas Bronson Library offers new business services

The Silas Bronson Library has expanded its support for entrepreneurs, small business owners, and anyone seeking to improve their skill at using office and creative software with the addition of two new online resources: Lynda.com and the Small Business Reference Center. Both resources can be accessed from the library’s website by CLICKING HERE and are available for anyone with a valid Silas Bronson Library card.

Lynda.com features more than 4,500 video tutorials showing you how to use a wide variety of software programs, from Excel to Photoshop. Lynda.com also offers tutorials on basic computer skills and social media use. For business professionals, Lynda.com has tutorials on leadership, communication, marketing, and project management. Whatever skill you need for your career or business, Lynda.com offers tutorials to help you succeed. Now owned by LinkedIn, Lynda.com offers certificates of completion that can be added to your LinkedIn profile.

The Small Business Reference Center is a collection of eBooks and videos to help business owners and managers with every aspect of their operations and to help entrepreneurs start up new businesses. The website includes a start-up kit, business plans, and industry information by business type. There are guides for managing employees, conducting successful meetings, presenting to customers, and marketing your business.

Both services can be accessed from the library’s website using the barcode number on your Silas Bronson Library card, which is available for free to every Waterbury resident. To sign up for a library card, bring a government-issued photo ID (such as a driver’s license) and a recent piece of mail or other document showing your current Waterbury residential address to the main library downtown on Grand Street or to the branch library on Bunker Hill Avenue.
