8/11/2016 - Silas Bronson Library to offer new video streaming service

The Silas Bronson Library is pleased to announce the availability of new online services for all library card holders. The library now offers streaming video service as well as three sources of eBooks and downloadable audiobooks.

InstantFlix, powered by IndieFlix, is a premier online service provider of more than 7,000 streaming film festival hits, including the best of Sundance, Cannes, Tribeca, and more. InstantFlix also streams classic TV shows, children’s movies, and vintage cult classics.

InstantFlix can be viewed on any web browser, as well as on Roku, Xbox, and Apple TV. Anyone with a valid Silas Bronson Library card can create a free InstantFlix account using the barcode number on their library card.

In addition to adding streaming video, the Silas Bronson Library has increased their selection of eBooks and downloadable audio books. EBSCOhost eBooks offers more than 41,000 eBooks and audiobooks with unlimited user access. This service supplements the library’s existing eBook providers, OverDrive and OneClickdigital. As with InstantFlix, anyone with a valid Silas Bronson Library card can create a free account using their library card barcode number to use these services.

Silas Bronson Library cards are available for free to every Waterbury resident. To sign up for a library card, bring a government-issued photo ID (such as a driver’s license) and a recent piece of mail or other document showing your current Waterbury residential address to the main library downtown on Grand Street or to the branch library on Bunker Hill Avenue.

The Silas Bronson Library is the public library of the City of Waterbury. Located at 267 Grand Street, the Library is open Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. after Labor Day weekend.
