6/3/2016 - High bacteria levels close Lakewood Park to swimming

A routine test of Lakewood Park done by City Health Department inspectors has detected a high level of bacteria in the water, forcing its closure to swimming for the weekend, a City Parks official said Friday June 3. The lake is currently staffed with lifeguards only on the weekend and will open for its regular summer weekday schedule the week of June 26. Meanwhile, the city will have a lifeguard at the park this weekend - June 4 and 5 - to advise residents to stay out of the water. Health Department inspectors will continue to test and monitor water conditions to determine when it is safe for swimming.
