The City’s residential street sweeping program will continues for the next 10 weeks. Property owners are asked to begin sweeping their sidewalks into the immediate gutter line, removing any debris, litter and leaves. Sand should not be swept into large piles.

Beginning Wednesday April 27, Crew 1 will be sweeping in District 6-2, which includes the

Farmwood Road area west to Chase River Road and Chase Avenue north to Bucks Hill Road. Work in this area is expected to be completed on May 3. This crew will then begin work in District 6-1 on or about May 4. District 6-1 includes the Bucks Hill area, Boyden Street area and the Montoe Road area.

Meanwhile, Crew 2 will be sweeping in District 1-1, which includes streets east of Highland Avenue from Sunnyside Avenue to Congress Avenue. Also included in District 1-1 is the Brooklyn neighborhood, Charles Street, South Leonard Street and the Railroad Hill Street areas. After completing District 1, the crew will then move to the East End of the city beginning May 4. The first area in the East End will be District 4-1, which includes the Chase School area north to the Wolcott town line.

Public Works will post signs in the districts prior to scheduled sweeping. Every effort should be made to remove parked vehicles from the scheduled routes prior to the arrival of the sweepers. Vehicles not removed during the sweeping operation may be towed at the owner’s expense.
