3/31/2016 - 2016 City of Waterbury Annual Hydrant Flushing Program

The annual flushing of water mains and testing of hydrants is scheduled to begin on Monday, April 4, 2016. The flushing work will be scheduled from 8 am to 3 pm. There are nine flushing routes for the City, each taking about a week to complete.

The nine hydrant flushing routes are posted on the City Website (click on the link below). Flushing Route #1 is scheduled to start on April 4, 2016, followed in order by Routes #2 - #9.

Occasionally, hydrant flushing can result in discolored water or temporary periods of reduced pressure. These conditions are not harmful and are temporary. As a convenience, customers can draw sufficient clean water prior to the start of flushing for use in drinking, cooking and washing. We apologize for any inconvenience, however, this procedure is essential to ensure proper operation of our fire hydrants, and to help reduce the incidence of water quality disruptions going forward.
