4/4/2016 - Mayor to host forum on heroin and opioid addiction tonight at City Hall

Local event to address the dramatic rise in heroin use and overdoses

EVENT:                 Forum to Combat Heroin and Prescription Opioid Abuse: from Awareness to Action

Event Date:        Tonight - Tuesday, April 5, 2016

Time:                     6:00 – 8:00 PM

Location:              Veteran’s Memorial Hall

                                235 Grand Street (City Hall)

                                Waterbury, CT

 

The “Forum to Combat Heroin and Prescription Opioid Abuse: from Awareness to Action” will be hosted by Mayor Neil M. O’Leary and feature a panel including the Commissioner of the Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services, the Commissioner of the Department of Consumer Protection, local officials, medical and treatment experts, the Director of the CNV Regional Action Council, and people in recovery. It will be moderated by the Director of the Northwest Regional Mental Health Board.

 

The public from Waterbury and the surrounding towns are invited and encouraged to attend this regional event. It will include a presentation by the panelists with opportunities for comments and questions from the audience.  Information and resources will be provided.

 

At the conclusion will be planning for local action steps to address this major and growing public health crisis.

 

Free parking is available on the street, in the municipal garage and library park.
