11/27/2015 - Downtown merchants to kick off "10 Days of Christmas" on Thursday

Forget the 12 days of Christmas. It’s 10 Days of Christmas Activities – from Thursday Dec. 10 to Dec. 20 – that will really matter this Holiday Season in Downtown Waterbury.

The Downtown Waterbury Winter Holiday Walkabout will feature different reasons to come to Downtown Waterbury each day. Here they are:

Thursday December 10

9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Karmic Inspirations on Grand Street – a New Age Emporium to inspire your life.

9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Princess Corset & Lingerie Shop, 102 Grand Street – Family & friends events pricing throughout the 10-day Holiday Walkabout.

The Connecticut Store, 140 Bank Street, will be available throughout the Holiday Walkabout for wonderful gifts created by local crafters.

7 p.m. Holiday of Peace – Shakesperience, 117 Bank Street, artists and actors perform scenes from three short Christmas stories.

7:30 p.m. ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas: The Musical, Palace Theater, 100 East Main Street. Five friends gather for a musical night on the town.

Friday December 11

9:30 a.m. & 12:30 p.m. Holiday of Peace - Shakesperience, 117 Bank Street, artists and actors perform scenes from three short Christmas stories.

Saturday December 12

11:30 a.m. Winter Wonderland Family Fun Day – Palace Theater, 100 East Main Street. A merry afternoon of affordable holiday activities, including ice skating on the Palace stage and photos with Santa.

2 & 7 p.m. Holiday of Peace, Shakesperience, 117 Bank Street.

6 to 9 p.m. Rock the Rink, Palace Theater. Dueling pianos, skating on stage and some naughty-but-nice holiday spirits.

7 p.m. Shamrock Café, 210 Meadow Street (corner Field and Meadow), Toys for Tots Christmas Show with Crosseyed Cat.

Sunday December 13

2 p.m. John Bale Bookstore, 158 Grand Street. Special browsing time with cider & cookies. In fact, come to the store all week!

Monday December 14

11:30 a.m. John Bale Book Store, 158 Grand Street. Christmas lunch open to the public. Enjoy a free lunch with Ede, Dan & staff. All you need to do is bring a non-perishable food item to donate as part of their Holiday Food Drive.

Tuesday December 15

11:30 a.m. John Bale Book Store. Book signing and live music

4:30 p.m. Throughout Downtown, Judging starts in the Main Street Waterbury Downtown Holiday Window Decoration Competition.

Wednesday December 16

4 p.m. until ? Santa Jingles & Cheer. Visit our participating local night spots wearing a Santa hat to get holiday drink specials. The participating establishments will be announced Dec. 1.

Thursday December 17

4 to 7 p.m. Brass City Harvest, Bank Street. Open house and Healthy Holiday food presentation. Also, great gift ideas.

Friday December 18

4 to 7 p.m. Baleto Boutique, 142 Bank Street, Batik, weaving, design and clothing presentation.

6 to 10 p.m. Princess Corset & Lingerie Shop, 102 Grand Street, Men’s Night.

Saturday December 19

1 to 3 p.m., Howland Hughes, 140 Bank Street, Girls Inc. Runway Show of handmade girls’ clothing. Wonderful show and presentation of handmade clothing items from talented young women.

4 p.m. Woodbury Ballet presents The Nutcracker at The Palace Theater. Immediately following this performance, Lee Dimo will be performing live at Signature’s Restaurant, Leavenworth Street.

Sunday December 20

2 p.m. Shakesperience Studios, Bank Street. A Christmas Carol – a staged reading by Doug Schlicher.
