3/4/2015 - Gold Star Mother presentation postponed
Weather has postponed the scheduled presentation Wednesday evening March 4 of a Certificate of Honor to Mary Kight, a Gold Star Mother from Waterbury. A new date will be announced.

The Waterbury Veterans Memorial Committee and the Watertown-based Trumbull-Porter Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution were to jointly present the award to Mrs. Kight on behalf of the National Vietnam War Commemorative Committee and the national office of the DAR.

Mrs. Kight is past Connecticut Chapter Chair of the American Gold Star Mothers. Gold Star Mothers are those who have lost a child in war. Mrs. Kight lost her son, Michael, in 1967 in Vietnam. The Army helicopter pilot was killed while trying to evacuate injured soldiers from a battlefield.
