Snow Storm Update, 10:00 a.m.

Sleet and freezing rain beginning to mix with snow, which will curtail the accumulation a bit, but will make snow accumulation a heavier one and possibly lead to some ice accretion. Even though temperatures may bump a bit later this morning/ early afternoon, watch for a drop later today. Any areas that are wet or slushy may be subject to a hard freeze as early as 3-5 p.m. The wind will pick up later as well, and blowing and drifting will be a concern. Parking ban still in effect until further notice.  Refuse and recycling collection has been suspended. Waterbury Public Schools are closed today. Motorists are advised to exercise caution if they are on the road.  Avoid travel if possible.  Residents are reminded to dig out their fire hydrants, bring pets inside, and check on neighbors.
