11/25/2013 - Tree Lighting Celebration on the Downtown Green

Waterbury’s tree lighting ceremony on the downtown Green, a long-standing annual tradition, will take place Sunday, December 1.

The festivities will start at 5:30 p.m. with a procession that begins in front of City Hall and ends at the Green. The Christmas Parade will feature Santa Claus on a fire engine.  Music will help usher in the tree lighting to the tunes of the Brass on Brass band.  Hot cocoa and doughnuts will be provided throughout the evening courtesy of the Waterbury Neighborhood Council. Anyone attending is encouraged to bring a non-perishable food item in exchange for a free Frankie’s hot dog. Following the tree-lighting, the public is invited to join Santa Claus for the Festival of Trees at the Howland Hughes building on Bank Street.  The tree lighting ceremony is sponsored by the City of Waterbury and Arts & Tourism Commission.

Rain date is Monday, December 2 at 6:00 p.m.
