11/6/2013 - Market Van at Waterbury Senior Center
Brass City Harvest’s Mobile Farmers’ Market Van will be at the new Waterbury Senior Center on Thursday November 7 from 9:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. For many Waterbury senior citizens, transportation is one of the main barriers in finding fresh food. This partnership will provide fresh produce to those who lack access to it. The Mobile Van will feature fresh Connecticut grown products including salad greens, potatoes, winter squash, turnips, kale, apples, pears, leeks, and cabbage.  CT Specialty food items such as goal milk soap, native honey and maple syrup will also be available. To increase accessibility, Brass City Harvest’s Mobile Farmers’ Market Van accepts SNAP and all credit cards as well as cash. There will be $500 in food vouchers for seniors who were unable to get coupons this summer due funds being cut from the federal government.

Brass City Harvest encourages residents to patronize local farm stands. Purchasing locally grown produce, farm baked goods and agricultural products benefits the economy of the state, and locally sourced food is the way to go for good health and nutrition.
