10/21/2013 - Seminars Offered By Neighborhood Housing Services of Waterbury

Do you need some assistance with the process of purchasing a home, information on foreclosure prevention, managing personal finances, or how to own and manage rental property?  Classes are offered on a monthly basis and are free of charge.

5:00 pm to 8:00 pm

Specifically geared towards individuals who are securing down payment assistance through the Connecticut Housing and Finance Authority (CHFA).  Instructors go over all the CHFA guidelines and regulations in order to for clients to understand the stipulations of this program. This class is required by CHFA before a closing.

5:00 pm to 8:00 pm

Curriculum covers basic banking, budgeting and savings plans, understanding credit, and basic lending procedures regarding homeownership.  Upon the full completion of this class and counseling component, clients become financially self-sufficient and are able to make smart financial decisions.

9:00 am to 5:00 pm

Provides participants with the process and procedures of becoming first time homebuyers.  Upon the completion of the class, participants receive a certificate and have acquired the necessary knowledge to proceed with the home-buying process. Clients receive individual pre-purchase counseling and are guided through the entire purchase process.

5:30 pm to 7:30 pm

Provides individuals with the options available to prevent them from losing their homes.  Participants are encouraged to attend the financial literacy class in conjunction with this class as an additional tool to prevent future financial difficulties.

5:00 pm to 8:00 pm

Provides detailed coverage of all aspects involved in buying a multi-family home (i.e. finding the right tenants, rights and responsibilities of landlords and tenants, maintaining the value of the property).
