Dogs are licensed each year during the month of June and can be obtained via mail-in registration. Due to the current closure of City Hall to the public, there are no walk-in registrations at this time.

New for 2020: If your dog was registered last year and the rabies certification is still current, you can save time by renewing the license through the new online portal:

All new and renewal licenses require a copy of your dog's current rabies certificate from the vet.  Licenses for a new dog that has not been licensed in the prior year also require a copy of the spayed/ neutered certificate from the vet, if applicable.

Be sure to enclose a self-addressed, stamped envelope - in addition to the required documents and proper payment (see fee schedule below; cash or check only). If you are registering multiple dogs, please remember to place an additional stamp on the return envelope.

  • Neutered/Spayed Dogs $8.00
  • Non Neutered/Spayed Dogs $19.00
  • Late licensing penalty $1.00 per month or fraction thereof
  • Transfer of ownership $1.00 for new license tag if already licensed
  • Lost tag 50¢
  • Change of residence (town) 50¢
  • Guide Dog Free
