11/20/2012 - Tree-lighting on the Waterbury Green

 

 

Waterbury’s tree-lighting ceremony on the downtown Green, a long-standing annual tradition, will take place this Friday, November 23rd.  At 5:30 p.m. join Mayor O’Leary, local officials, families and friends, at City Hall for a procession to the Green.

 

Music will help usher in the tree-lighting to the tunes of Bob Mobilio and the Brass on Brass band.  Following the tree-lighting, the crowd, Clara and the Nutcracker Performers, and Santa himself, will walk over the to the Howland-Hughes building on 120 Bank St. for the Festival of Trees, Miracle on Bank St.

 

Hot cocoa, cider and doughnuts will be provided throughout the evening courtesy of the Waterbury Neighborhood Council. Anyone attending may bring a non-perishable food item in exchange for free Frankie’s hot dog.  Bank Street, Center Street and the south side of the Green will be closed to traffic.
