Mixing it up with Marty

 Chef Series Toast

 Watch and learn how to make seasonal dishes as Marty mixes up a Signatures Salad, Seafood Risotto with Shrimp, Scallops and Mussels followed by Espresso Crème Brulée which you will then enjoy eating in the elegant museum setting. Limit 20 participants.

Tea and Tour with Costume Historian Adrienne St. Pierre

 

Wednesday, June 15  1:00-3:00pm

   

 

Tea and Tour offers insight into the history of one aspect of American style. Costume historian Adrienne St. Pierre, of the Barnum Museum in Bridgeport, will explain the cultural history that inspired and sometimes required, the variety seen in men's women's clothing styles. Participants will enjoy tea, sandwiches and sweets in the BMuse Café. Space is limited.

From Slavery to the White House

Actress Stephanie Jackson

     

Elizabeth (Lizzy) Keckly was born enslaved but gained her freedom and started a sewing school for girls. She became the personal dressmaker and confidante of Mary Todd Lincoln. Lizzy was born in North Carolina; her parents were separated in the homes of two different masters. After the age of 7, Lizzy never saw her father again. In her teenage years Lizzy was given to her master's son as a wedding gift. Join us as actress Stephanie Jackson portrays Lizzy and tells her remarkable story.
