Waterbury, CT-June 7, 2011 Shakesperience Productions, Inc. presents its Summer Tour, Vintage Shakesperience, beginning with the annual Shakespeare in Library Park.  All productions on the tour are directed by Artistic Director, Emily Mattina.  

 

A Midsummer Night's Dream will be presented on June 23-26 in Library Park located at 373 Grand Street, behind the Silas Bronson Library in Downtown Waterbury. Free parking is available at the Silas Bronson lot, in the Buckingham Ramp Garage, and on Meadow and Grand Streets.  Thursday evening performance of A Midsummer Night's Dream will begin at 7pm, Friday and Saturday at 8pm, and on Sunday at 2pm.  There will also be a matinee performance of Rudyard Kipling’s The Jungle Book on Saturday, June 25 at 10:30am.  Picnicking will begin a half hour before the performances and a $15 donation is encouraged and welcomed. 

 

 

On May 22, Shakesperience begins Vintage Shakesperience, its tour of wine vineyards and other venues across the northeast, beginning with The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged) at McLaughlin Vineyards in Sandy Hook, CT.  This performance is followed by: A Midsummer Night's Dream at Miranda Vineyard in Goshen, Connecticut on July 16, Romeo & Juliet at the Seward House Museum in Auburn, New York on July 23, A Midsummer Night's Dream at McLaughlin Vineyards in Sandy Hook, Connecticut on August 27, Romeo & Juliet at Chamard Vineyard in Clinton, Connecticut on September 10, and A Midsummer Night's Dream at Haight-Brown Vineyard in Litchfield, Connecticut on September 17. Rain dates for most performances are scheduled for the following day.  The performances will be presented with the generous support of the George A. & Grace L. Long Foundation and the Connecticut Community Foundation. Shakesperience Productions, Inc. is pleased to announce Acting Classes at the Shakesperience Studios in Waterbury. Students age 7-11 will participate in a class called Seuss to Shakespeare, held from July 18-22, 8:30am-12pm.   For students aged 12-17 years old, the class will be Shakespeare in Performance 301: Henry V, held from July 25-29, 9am-4pm.

 

This summer's Stratford Theatre Camp will be Shakespeare in Performance 301: Henry V, and will coincide with this year's Festival!Stratford.  In all classes, students explore various acting techniques and styles using the Shakesperience Approach.  Camp will run from 9-3, August 15-19, and will culminate in a presentation of scenes from Henry V to be shared with family, friends, and festival-goers on Sunday, August 21st.  

 

In all classes, students will explore various acting techniques and styles using the Shakesperience Approach.  Students will be taught by professional actors and participate in physical and vocal warmups identical to those that the actors themselves practice. Each class will focus on creating action through language while developing a positive ensemble. Tuition is $250 per student.
