Watch and learn how to make seasonal dishes as Marty mixes up a Signatures Salad, Seafood Risotto with Shrimp, Scallops and Mussels followed by Espresso Crème Brulée which you will then enjoy eating in the elegant museum setting. Limit 20 participants.

Rooms with a View: Dress and Undress in the Edwardian Era with Kandie Carle
Wednesday, May 25 at 7:00pm
Well-known for her role as the Victorian Lady, Kandie Carle teaches us some of the differences and similarities between us and our turn of the century ancestors. While dressing and undressing in actual vintage and authentically reproduced undergarments, clothing and accessories, Kandie Carle adds humor, history and intriguing anecdotes about fashion, home life and the etiquette of men and women during the Edwardian era of the early 1900s, in which the Gibson Girl look was popular.

Lecture and Book Signing with
Matthew Warshauer

Dr. Matthew Warshauer will discuss his new book, Connecticut in the American Civil War: Slavery, Sacrifice and Survival. Connecticut was extensively involved in the conflict. We sent more than 30 regiments to the front, had an extensive industrial capacity, and an active home front. The state has more than 130 Civil War monuments.
Matthew Warshauer is Professor of History at Central Conn. State University and co-chair of the Connecticut Civil War Commemoration Commission.

Tea and Tour with Wayne Mattox

Wayne Mattox, antique collector and dealer known for his weekly column, Antique Talk, will discuss the furniture in each setting and how it reflects the times in which it was created. Participants will enjoy tea, sandwiches and sweets in the BMuse Café. Space is limited.

Local Jazz First Thursday
June 2 5:30pm-7:30pm
Enjoy the sounds of jazz with talented New York jazz vocalist Glenda Davenport. Glenda began her singing career in June of 1992 and was a winner at the world famous Apollo Theater's Amateur Night in April, 1993. She is accompanied by three musicians including acoustic bassist, John Mobilio, James Santucci on piano and Jack Varanelli on drums.

How Does Your Garden Grow?
with Tovah Martin

Begin at the Mattatuck Museum as we learn from noted garden expert Tovah Martin how to Put Your Personality in Your Garden. Then travel a few blocks up the hill to the garden of Betty Jane Wesson, who will tell us how she and her neighbor put personality into her quirky and lovable garden. We'll stroll over to the charming home of Dennis and Sally Odle and enjoy lemonade and cookies on their spacious verandah.
