First Thursdays Kicks Off 2005 In Style

Waterbury’s own Mattatuck Museum plans to bring in the New Year in grand style with The Harold Zinno Jazz Quintet for the January installment of First Thursdays, on Thursday, January 6, 2005 from 5:30 to 8:00 pm.

First Thursdays is a fun after-hours event featuring live music and refreshments.  In January, the Harold Zinno Jazz Quintet will appear with Nicole Pasternak.  Harold Zinno, Jr. plays the trumpet and flugelhorn and has spent the past 17 years with the Sonny Costanzo Jazz Orchestra.  His quintet appears regularly throughout New England, and most recently at the Chestnut Room at Tavern on the Green in New York City.  Nicole Pasternak, vocalist, recently completed her own solo CD.  Other members of the Quintet include Bill Cofrances, saxophone, Doug Schlink, piano, John Mobilio, bass, and Jack Varanelli, drums.

In addition to the music, guests at the January First Thursdays event will enjoy a wine tasting, hors d’oeuvres, and access to the Museum’s exhibits.

First Thursdays takes place at the Mattatuck Museum on the first Thursday of every month.  Admission is free to Museum members at $7 for non-members.  The Mattatuck Museum is located at 144 West Main Street, Waterbury.  Convenient parking is located directly behind the Museum on Park Place.  For more information, contact Kjell Wangensteen at 203-753-3081, ext. 20.
