Lauren Sevian Jazz at the Mattatuck Museum  

 Lauren Sevian has been playing the baritone sax since she was 12 years old
and by 16, won the Count Basie invitational soloing competition.
She has been a regular member of such groups such as the MIngus Big Band,
Denis Leary and the Enablers, and the Artie Shaw Orchestra. She even amazed audiences and was critically acclaimed at Carnegie Hall.

Have some wine, socialize, and enjoy some swinging jazz!

The October Jazz performance marks the beginning of the third year of the Museum's All Jazz First Thursdsays produced by WZBG radio personality and jazz guru, Mike Gow.

The Museum invites all music enthusiasts to join us from 5:30 - 7:30 pm, Thursday, October 7 at the Mattatuck Museum Arts and History Center.

Admission is $7 for museum members and $15 for non-members.

Admission is FREE when you join the museum or renew your membership on First Thursday.   

First Thursdays, a fun, after-hours event, is a great way to meet friends, network with business associates, enjoy live music,

 refreshments, and unwind!

Mattatuck Young Professional Ambassadors Commitee presents

The Global Lens 2010 film series- a showcase of ten critically acclaimed narrative feature films from Algeria, China, India, Iran, Mexico, Peru, Serbia, South Africa, Uruguay and Vietnam, will screen at the museum. 

  The Thursday series continues with the Peruvian film "Gods" starting at

 7 pm  Thursday October 14th, 2010:

November 18th - Adrift
December 9th - The Shaft
December 16th - Becloud
*Sunday matinee viewing will run October 24th - December 26th, 2-4 pm.

Admission is  free for members and $5 for non-members.

Getting Along:The Immigrant Experience in Waterbury

 FEATURING: Ruth Glasser, Professor of Urban and Community Studies at the UCONN campus in Waterbury.
 We all know Waterbury is a city of immigrants, but what does that really mean? Ruth Glasser will explore how Waterbury's immigrant communities have changed from the early 19th century to the present and the impact they have on our city. Dr. Glasser has written several books on Connecticut's immigrant and migrant communities. Sure to be a fascinating topic!

The Museum has commissioned this film to document the Josephine McMillen and Lois Livingston McMillen exhibit of the dynamic art of five women artist.
The film reveals the aesthetic and intellectual instigations behind each
artist's creation as well as the precise and painstaking detail it takes
to make a masterpiece.
