With Economic Upturn, New Opportunities brings Hope and Higher Education

New Opportunities, Inc., your Community Action Agency, is holding a free of charge, open to the public, Higher Education Fair on Thursday, May 27, 2010 from 5:30 to 7:30pm in the Auditorium of our Human Services Building, located at 232 North Elm Street, Waterbury. A complimentary buffet-dinner & refreshments will be served. The purpose of this Fair will be to inform local youth as well as adults of post-secondary opportunities available in the state.  With a believed revitalization of our Nation's Economy and Job Market and paired with recent Government Legislation regarding Federal Student Loans, a unique opportunity is in order: This fair includes not only Scholastic College and University, but also Proprietary, or Trade Schools, and the like.  Around 20 local schools who are confirmed in attendance include: Naugatuck Valley Community College, Post University, University of Connecticut, Quinnipiac University, Porter & Chester, Lincoln College of New England, and Brio Academy. In addition, there will be a panel of financial aid representatives to help prospective students in all areas make the first strides to a financial commitment and discuss recent changes in Federal legislation.  An expected 400 people will attend this event from the Waterbury area. As an added feature, a drawing will be held for 5 prizes, with 3 grand prizes of $550 for college application fees, paid for by New Opportunities, Inc.  The event will be held in the Auditorium at New Opportunities, Inc. at 232 North Elm Street, Waterbury, CT, 06702 and will run from 5:30pm to 7:30pm on Thursday, May 27,2010.
