Admission is $5 for museum members, and $10 for non-members.
Free admission when you join the museum or renew your membership on Cinco de Mayo, part of MYPAC's Mattatuck After Dark Series.
About MYPAC:
The Mattatuck Young Professionals Ambassasdor Collaborative is a group of young professionals whose mission is to promote awareness and appreciation of the Mattatuck Musem Arts & History Center.
They support the development of programs and events at the Museum in order to develop museum membership, and networking opportunities for young professionals in the area. The Mattatuck After Dark series is a partnership between the Mattatuck Museum and MYPAC.
Mattatuck After Dark, a fun, after-hours event, is a great way to meet up with friends, network with business associates, and enjoy live music.

Wednesday, May 5th, 6:30 pm: Calling All Poets (and Poetry Lovers) hosted by Victoria Munoz. Compose a poem on the theme: "Given that I am going to die, what do I want to accomplish with the rest of my life?" and read it at this "open mike" program, Silas Bronson Library, 267 Grand Street, Wtby.
Thursday, May 6th, 7 pm: Dine & Discuss with Greystone Arts

A Lesson Before Dying by Ernest Gaines at Drescher's Restaurant,

Friday May 14th, 5:30-7:30 pm: The Book & The Blues with
the Hardy Eason and Friends:
Led by pianist Hardy Eason, the band will perform works inspired by passages from A Lesson Before Dying. Eason's skill and versatility is known
locally and nationally.

Thursday, May 20th The Big Read Closing Celebrations at
the Mattatuck Museum Arts and History Center
The Big Read will come to close with the following activities:
Art Awards Presentation 4:00-4:30pm: Art projects created by Waterbury Public School students based on the book A Lesson Before Dying by Ernest Gaines
Essay Awards Presentation 4:30-5:30pm: Essays writtenby Waterbury Public School students and selected by the Waterbury Bar Association will be read by the winners. Essays must address the following question: In A Lesson Before Dying by Ernest Gaines, Jefferson is sentenced to death for committing murder.
If he were truly guilty of murder would the sentence fit the crime?
In your response, explain if the death penalty is a cruel murder
or a just punishment.
Panel Discussion: Does Racism Impact Justice? 5:30 -6:30:
Presented by members of the Waterbury Bar Association.
Reception, Refreshments, and Music 6:30-7:30: The conversations and excitement of the Big Read continue in the museum Courtyard with the stirring music of Sounds of Africa.
