Responding to Adversity: Waterbury in Hard Times - A Gallery Talk with Jeremy Brecher
Join historian Jeremy Brecher in the Banded Together : The Story of the Naugatuck Valley Project exhibition as he explores what we can learn from the past when planning future efforts at economic reconstruction. From the periodic depressions that virtually stopped industry in the 19th and 20th centuries to the plant closings of the 1970s and 80s, residents of the Naugatuck Valley have often had to deal with hard times. Learn how local people responded.

F. Luis Mora and the Expression of Beauty Closing Celebration
|
Join us as we salute Mora's works of beauty and give them a proper send-off as they return to their former homes!
The celebration starts with a panel of distinguished art experts, including William Gerdts, Ph.D., discussing Connecticut artists who, like Mora, moved from acclaim to obscurity as their styles fell out of fashion. Learn from Dr. Gerdts, Lynne Pauls Baron, Jeffrey Cooley, and Peter Hastings Falk how these artists are now in various stages of rediscovery.
Then enjoy the beautiful Mora art and visit with the panelists during our farewell reception.
For more information about the closing celebration visit our website.
Please register by calling 203-753-0381 ext 10.
We are grateful to the TD Charitable Foundation for funding the panel discussion.
