Now there is a great way to see the Mattatuck Museum - FREE! On the second Sunday of the month the museum opens its doors so that you can experience 300 years of awesome history, view spectacular art, ranging from sedate to boisterously colorful and delicate to boldly room-filling, and explore 10,000 exquisite buttons. There'll be games that keep you engaged and tours that answer your questions. Bring your friends and family, and expect the unexpected!

Learn to Paint Landscapes with Watercolors!

Watercolors provide the perfect medium for painting in the museum's courtyard! Kids learn the basics of perspective and how to mix colors, create lines and layers, as artist and certified teacher June Kozloski teaches the techniques of landscape painting.
 
Designed for children ages 7-12 years old. Children's admission is $4 for museum members, and $7 for non-members.  All art supplies are provided.  For more information or to register call 203-753-0381 ext 10.

The second Sunday of every month is Museum Sunday! Explore the museum at no charge, and enjoy free tours of the art and history galleries. Art galleries feature 300 years of work by Connecticut artists. The history exhibit provides dramatic you-were-there experiences of the history of the Waterbury region, and the Waterbury Button Museum displays 10,000 exquisite buttons from all over the world. New family activities every month!

Meet Beekeeper Al Avitabile at Discovery Club!

BeeDiscovery Club is so cool!  This month kid's meet a real beekeeper, Al Avitabile from Columbine Gardens in Bethlehem. Al shares how honey is made, shows the difference between queen, worker, and drone bees, and explains what each kind of bee does. See a bee hive and honey comb! Taste honey!  Learn how Al keeps the bees calm, and what kind of clothes a beekeeper wears! See for yourself why Discovery Club is the place to be!
 
Discovery Club is a monthly program designed for kids who like experimenting and discovering new worlds. Each month participants stretch their imaginations by exploring science, technology, and the arts. Discovery Club meets on the last Sunday of the month from 2-4 pm. Monthly attendance is not necessary BUT kids won't want to miss any of these exciting programs!

Introduce your toddler to the world of art! Discover the stories, colors, shapes, and movement in the art collection, and make an art project with your child.
 
Tiny Tot Art is scheduled while the museum is closed to other visitors, allowing you and your child freedom to enjoy the art, each other, and new-found friends!
