In light of recent events, the City of Waterbury would like to remind residents of a few basic public health precautions.

• Cover your cough and nose
• Avoid close contact
• Wash hands
• Stay at home when sick
• Avoid touching mouth nose and eyes

The Waterbury Department of Public Health has been in contact with the Connecticut Department of Public Health to assess the current status.  Daily conference calls have been planned between the DPH and local health departments and updates will continually be provided.

Currently there have been no confirmed cases in Waterbury, Connecticut.  It is our goal that the spread of this disease will be minimized with the use of the above listed health precautions.

The City of Waterbury’s Emergency Management team consists of representatives from the Office of the Mayor, Fire Department, Police Department, Health Department, Board of Education and the two local hospitals. Meetings have been conducted on the local level in order to review plans and expected responses.  All plans have been tested through local drills and have been updated regularly.
