A Message From Catherine
Each day as I walk by the galleries I take a quick break to visit a work of art. Taking in its colors, detail, and movement, I long to know more - the story behind the work. That's why I'm particularly excited about the upcoming lecture series. Starting Wednesday, February 25th the museum takes you beyond images with 3 talks that explore how art and literature helped forged our national ideals, culture, and identity. More than merely decorative, these art works provide social commentary and reflect the beliefs and values of the persons who created, commissioned, and used them. Museum curator Cynthia Roznoy, Ph.D. provides compelling insights and challenges you to test your observational skills. The talks are scheduled on consecutive Wednesdays from 1-2 pm so make it a lunch and learn!
