Pilgrims Progress to Waterbury in Quest for Peace and Justice

(WATERBURY, CONN. - October 2, 2008) - A group of men and women representing various faith traditions who have been traveling around New England stirring up conversations about peace and justice will stop at St. John' s Church in Waterbury on Tuesday, October 28. The group hopes to stimulate such conversations in the Brass City, where Fr. Jim Bradley, Rector of St. John's, hopes all who care about the future of our nation will join the conversation.

"There will be a pot-luck supper at St. John's Church on the Green in Waterbury for walkers and others at 6 p.m. Then at 7 p.m. there will be a time for conversation, questions, and information on how to become involved in making peace," Fr. Bradley says. Persons who are interested in attending should call the church at 203-754-3116 to reserve a table.

The New England Pilgrimage for Peace began in New London on September 28 and is making a circuit through Rhode Island and Massachusetts to Manchester, New Hampshire. The pilgrims will split in Boston, with half going north to Manchester and half west to Springfield, Massachusetts. The group will reunite at Hartford and continue through Connecticut to New Haven and then to New London to finish on November 9. The group will visit houses of worship as well as schools, colleges, and seminars. Contact pilgrimage organizer Fr. Emmett Jarrett at 860-437-8890 or stfrancishouse@mindspring.com for more information.
