Choral Conductor Richard Webster Will Direct 100 Young Singers at St. John's in Waterbury , October 19 and 20

(WATERBURY, CONN. - October 11, 2007) - One hundred young singers from five Episcopal Churches in Rhode Island and Connecticut will come to St. John's Parish in Waterbury on October 19 for a two-day festival of singing and instruction under the direction of the acclaimed choral conductor Richard Webster. The event will culminate with an Evensong service at 4 p.m. on October 20. The public is invited to attend this service.

Webster, the Associate Director of Music at Boston's historic Trinity Church on Copley Square, travels extensively to lead choir and other musical festivals. He says he is looking forward to directing the children who will come to St. John's: "Given the proper tools, skills and encouragement, children can learn to sing Bach, Byrd, Howells and Mozart, and love it.  By simply exposing them to beauty at a level appropriate to their development, we allow the hearts and souls to be moved by this beauty."

Choristers from St. Luke's, East Greenwich, Rhode Island; and St. Peter's, Cheshire; Trinity, Hartford; and Trinity, Newtown, Connecticut, will join the St. John's group.
