Why: Waterbury Crime Stopper, Inc. is a non-profit organization, which pays REWARDS (UP TO $1,000) to ANONYMOUS INFORMANTS who may provide information leading to the filing of criminal charges against perpetrators. Crime Stoppers was organized in Waterbury in 1982. Since its inception, anonymous information from informants has assisted the Waterbury Police Department in solving many area crimes. Over 590 cases have been cleared with more than 978 convictions, of which five cases were homicides. Additionally, over $1,429,000 of narcotics and stolen property has been recovered. TO this end, rewards of more an #29,9000 have been paid to anonymous informants. In order for this fin organization to help in the fight against crime, fund are needed for rewards.
