The 1900 CLUB was established to raise money for scholarships for Waterbury Area High School graduates. The CLUB raises funds in the memory of Martin Brennan (a longtime Waterbury resident and businessman and one time owner of The Community Restaurant), Thomas Dillon (a longtime resident of Waterbury, former Waterbury Park Commissioner, and one time owner of the Community Restaurant), Joseph "Moon" O'Donnell (long time resident of the East End of Waterbury), and most recently, Michael Goggin (deceased member (Detective) of the Waterbury Police Department ). Funds are raised at an Annual Ziti Dinner at the Ancient Order of Hibernians on Golden Hill Street in Waterbury in January and an Annual Picnic/Pig Roast at the Lebanese Club on Woodtick Road in September.
In 2004, The 1900 CLUB awarded (3) $1,250 scholarships and (1) $250 sholarship. As the CLUB progresses more and more scholarships funds will be awarded.
