Barber Music for a Scene from Shelley
Bartok Miraculous Mandarin Suite
Four B's bedazzle November. Beethoven's ebullient first Piano Concerto contrasts with three Twentieth Century works, each with a story to tell. Voltaire's Candide is delightfully captured in Bernstein's glittering overture; Shelly’s poetry in Barber's lush score; and an exotic tale of intrigue was the creative spark for Bartok's Suite from The Miraculous Mandarin.
