5/7/2015 - Savings Lives: Preventing Suicide program tonight at Library

A program entitled "Saving Lives - Preventing Suicide" will be presented at 6:30 p.m. today, May 7, at the Silas Bronson Library, 267 Grand Street. The hostess is Janine Sullivan-Wiley, executive director of the Northwest Regional Mental Health Board. The program is being presented in memory of Reference Librarian Kenneth Marder (1953-2014). Marder, a New Haven native with a master’s degree from Yale School of Public Health and a master’s degree in Library and Information Science from Southern Connecticut State University, served as a reference  librarian  for 17 years. He was responsible for the art exhibits and served as the SCORE liaison. He was a world traveler, a music lover - particularly classical and jazz - and an avid golfer. He is greatly missed. His niece, Emily Reim Ifrach, an  art therapist, will present paintings she made in memory of her uncle. The event is open to the public.
