MASSIVE “ARREST” OF LOCAL BUSINESS LEADERS TO BENEFIT MUSCULAR DYSTROPY ASSOCIATION

On August 16, 2005, the Crossroads Cantina will sponsor the Waterbury Area Executive Lockup to benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Association. More than 200 prominent Waterbury executives and civic leaders have been accused of having a big heart and have volunteered to be “arrested” and “sent to jail” at the Crossroads Cantina in an effort to raise money for the local MDA.

The jailbirds will “raise bail” by calling friends, family and co-workers, encouraging contributions to advance MDA’s lifesaving programs. Jailbirds will be picked up at their place of business and driven to the Lockup, where they will have the opportunity to make bail phone calls, network with fellow business leaders and dine on some delicious jailhouse grub provided by the Crossroads Cantina, and then returned to work in transportation provided by local auto dealers and limousine companies. MDA is a voluntary health agency working to defeat neuromuscular diseases through worldwide research, comprehensive services, and far-reaching professional and public health education. In addition to funding groundbreaking research, MDA maintains some 230 clinics nationwide, including ones at Yale New Haven Medical School in New Haven and Connecticut Children’s Medical Center in Hartford, CT, local support groups, and a summer camp for kids with neuromuscular disease at Camp Hemlocks in Hebron, CT.
