9/16/2014 - Rivera Memorial Foundation to Hold a Toast for Education Wine Tasting

 

The Rivera Memorial Foundation, Inc. will hold A Toast for Education wine and food tasting fundraiser on Friday, September 19 at The Old Waterville Firehouse on 1551 Thomaston Avenue to help raise support for the organization’s Scholarship program.

Guests will enjoy a wide selection of wines sponsored by Wine Haven Purveyors of Fine Wine & Spirits, 810 Lakewood Road, Waterbury, CT, as well as delicious food spreads donated from local Waterbury restaurants. A silent auction will accompany the event. The tasting will begin at 5:30p.m-9:00 p.m.

Tickets are $25 per person in advance and $30 at the door.  Tickets can be purchased by via PayPal on www.rmfinc.org.

All proceeds from A Toast for Education will be used to help the organization continue to provide scholarship funding for Waterbury students. Any businesses and individuals interested in supporting this event can contact Jessica Ocasio or Matthew Ocasio at (475)235-3182.

The Rivera Memorial Foundation, Inc. was begun by Maritza Rivera in 1990 after the tragic death of Firefighters Heriberto T. Eddie Rivera and Howard Hughes, and offers services and programs for children and families in the Waterbury area, including scholarship funding for high school or current college students from the Waterbury area. Since becoming a non-profit organization in 1999, the Rivera Memorial Foundation, Inc. has provided over $30,000 in scholarship funds to Waterbury students.

The RMF, Inc. serves children and families regardless of economic, ethnic and religious background. Since its start, the Rivera Memorial Foundation, Inc. has given close to 1,000 children and families the chance to learn and reach their full potential.
