9/5/2014 - Oronoke Road / Country Club Road Intersection Improvements

The Waterbury Bureau of Engineering is announcing plans to revise traffic operations/ movements at the Country Club Road and Oronoke Road intersection that will reduce conflict points, reduce speeds, improve traffic flow and enhance safety. These improvements are designed to reduce the speed of westbound traffic making a left turn from Country Club Road onto Oronoke Road. The plan was submitted to the Board of Police Commissioners for review and comment, and approved at their May 13, 2014 meeting.

Construction of the intersection improvements are anticipated to start on Monday, September 8, 2014 and be completed within 10 calendar days. Advance warning signs will be posted at all approaches to the intersection to notify the traveling public of the changes in traffic patterns.

Improvements/ changes to the intersection will include the following:
Westbound traffic on Country Club Road will proceed past the traffic island to make a left turn onto Oronoke Road;
Eastbound traffic on Country Club Road will stop prior to the intersection before proceeding either straight through or right onto Oronoke Road;
Northbound traffic on Oronoke Road will have separate left turn and right turn lanes separated by a painted island.
