Celebration for "Victory in Europe Day"
WATERBURY, CT, April 27, 2004 --- The Office of the Mayor and Favale-Generali-Florio War Veterans Post 8 announced today that there will be a flag raising on Tuesday, May 11, 2004 at 10:00 am in front of City Hall to commemorate the 59th Anniversary of "Victory in Europe" Day.
In addition to the flag raising, there will also be a rally featuring speeches from veterans of that era. A reception will immediately follow in Aldermanic Chambers East.
"The City is proud to celebrate the anniversary of Victory in Europe Day," said Mayor Michael J. Jarjura. "I would invite all veterans from that era to come and speak, and for the Waterbury community to join us as we honor the veterans who proudly served our country."
