The Waterbury Chapter of UNICO National is sponsoring an Italian Heritage bus trip to New York City on Saturday, September 14, 2013.
The schedule of activities includes the following:
(1) Ferry Ride to Statue of Liberty
(2) 87th Annual Feast of San Gennaro w/Dion DiMucci as the Grand Marshal for the parade in Little Italy
(3) Tour of the Italian-American Museum
(4) Optional visit to the catacombs at the Old St. Patrick’s Cathedral.
The cost per person is $60.00 and includes transportation, ferry ride and museum admission. Lunch is on your own. The bus will depart promptly at 6:00am from the Commuter Lot on Chase Parkway in Waterbury and will leave NYC at approximately 5:30pm and return to the same lot in Waterbury. UNICO was founded in 1922 in Waterbury, CT by a group of professional Italian-Americans who were denied membership into a local service organization. They created UNICO to raise promote and preserve the Italian-American culture while doing charitable works in their community. The motto of UNICO is "Service Above Self". Since then, UNICO has developed into the largest Italian-American Service Organization in the United States of America. Currently, there are 5,792 members in 131 chapters in 16 states.
