The City of Waterbury is inviting the public to comment on the planned intermodal transportation improvements in the vicinity of 333-389 Meadow Street and the Metro North Waterbury Train Station.

These improvements will be implemented in two phases:

Phase 1: Building Removal at 333 Meadow Street

The existing vacant building and parking structure at 333 Meadow Street will be removed and the site leveled in preparation for Phase 2 parking and pedestrian access improvements. The estimated cost is approx. $1.5M with funding provided by the State of Connecticut. Phase 1 is expected to begin in late summer 2013.

Phase 2: Parking and Pedestrian Access Improvements

Parking lot improvements, a bus pickup/drop-off zone, lighting and security enhancements, landscaping, sidewalks along with restroom facilities, ticketing and waiting room improvements in south end of the former Waterbury Train Station building will be constructed. The estimated cost is approximately $700,000 with funding to be provided by the Federal Transit Administration and the State. Design plans are being finalized and construction is expected to begin in the spring of 2014.
