4/3/2013 - GEAR UP Summer Program Applications

 

The GEAR UP program will be accepting applications
for the GEAR UP Summer Institute running the weeks
of June 24 to August 2, 2013 at each of the Waterbury
Middle Schools. The program will run five days a week,
from the hours of 8:30 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. Each comprehensive
middle school will house a summer program. The summer
institute is open to all current sixth and seventh graders
in the Waterbury Public Schools.

The GEAR UP Summer Institute is a full six week commitment.
One hundred 6th and one hundred 7th grade students from each
middle school will be accepted into the summer institute.
Students will participate in rigorous math, science and English
classes in the morning followed by workforce and job training
classes in the afternoon. All students will be bused to and from
their particular middle school location. Breakfast and lunch will
be served at each site. The GEAR UP summer institute will follow
all Waterbury Board of Education conduct policies including those
relating to dress code.

Applications will be distributed by GEAR UP staff within the
middle schools and the deadline for application submission
will be April 17, 2013. Only applications that are fully completed
will be accepted. Applications should be returned to GEAR UP
site coordinators. The applications will be reviewed by GEAR UP
staff and decisions on acceptance will be made by April 26, 2013.
