PENSION AND BENEFITS

As part of the Human Resources Department in the City, the Pension & Benefits office provides administration and guidance for employees and retirees who are covered by City benefit plans. Retirement plans include a 401(a) Plan, the City Retirement System and a 457(b) Deferred Compensation Plan. Teachers may participate in a 403(b) plan, but that is administered by the Department of Education rather than this office. Please contact the Department of Education directly about the 403(b).  For your convenience, 403(b) forms are available on this site.

Welfare benefits include medical, dental, pharmacy, life insurance, AD&D, a Section 125 flexible spending account, dependent care account (daycare), as well as a comprehensive Employee Assistance Program. There are also voluntary supplemental benefits available. We currently cover over 12,000 active employees, family members and retirees under City programs.

Notice to employees & retirees:
You may have recently received new replacement Cigna cards in the mail. These cards have updated information for plans that offer additional pharmacy coverage beyond the annual $1,000 benefit from Express Scripts (formerly Medco). This card does not replace your Express Scripts pharmacy card. If you received a new medical card, do not destroy any other card besides the old Cigna medical card.
