It has been just about a year since we ran the Voluntary Benefits enrollment for City Government employees. Everyone did a great job getting on board with the initial Guarantee Issue offering.
Some of you waived coverage initially, but may have changed your mind and want to look at enrolling now. This is an opportunity for you to meet with a representative from MetLife to discuss what is available. Note that Guarantee Issue is available only when you are initially offered coverage. If you “waived” or skipped the first offer, any enrollment now will be subject to underwriting requirements. The MetLife Representatives will begin to reach out now and will continue through the beginning of December in order to meet with anyone who is interested.
The Department of Education open enrollment will be conducted in February, 2013 which is the anniversary of the original Department of Education offering.
Trustmark underwrites these coverages for us and the plans are marketed through MetLife;
MetLife may contact you personally and there will be group meetings you can attend if you like; watch for dates, they will be working through each department. Feel free to contact one of the MetLife Representatives directly, at any time, if you like.
Note to NEW HIRES who joined the City or Department of Education between December 1, 2011 and October 10, 2012: Since this is your very first chance to learn about and enroll in these programs, you can enroll “Guarantee Issue”. If you waive this opportunity now, then decide to enroll later, your enrollment will be subject to underwriting.
