As part of the Human Resources Department in the City, the Pension & Benefits Department provides administration and guidance for employees and retirees who are covered by City benefit plans. Retirement plans include a 401(a) Plan, the City Retirement System and a 457 Deferred Compensation Plan. Teachers may participate in a 403(b) plan, but that is administered by the Department of Education rather than this office. Please contact the Department of Education directly about the 403(b).
Welfare benefits include medical, dental, pharmacy, life insurance, AD&D, a Section 125 flexible spending account, dependent care account and a comprehensive Employee Assistance Program. There are also voluntary supplemental benefits available. We currently cover over 12,000 active employees, family members and retirees under City programs.
