Mission
The Department of Inspections shall ensure and improve the public safety by regulation of construction, alteration, demolition, maintenance, location, occupancy and thorough oversight of all buildings and structures to see they adhere to the state of Connecticut Basic Building Code. The department provides building, electrical, plumbing, heating and sign permits to the public.

 

Permits

Permits may be applied for / obtained between the following hours:

 

Building Applications / Permits               

8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

 

An inspector will be available for questions each day from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon

Mechanical Applications /  Permits                    

8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

 

An inspector will be available for questions each day from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

Permit applications may be faxed to the Department of Inspections at 203 - 574 - 6854 for your convenience. We will contact you by phone when your permit is ready for pickup.
